Arrr... Pirate movie

Word has reached us that Disney will produce a movie based on "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride, starring Johnny Depp. Jerry Bruckheimer is reportedly the executive producer. What does this have to do with Monkey Island? As most of you know, the games were heavily inspired by "Pirates of the Caribbean" in Disney Land/World/Euro/Whatever, so chances are that this movie will have that Monkey feel to it.

Yeah except - it is NOT monkey island related. It is, in fact a futuristic, set-in-space version of Treasure Island. You know, with aliens, humans and robots and such. Not a thing to do with monkeys or monkey island :(

Futuristic? That sounds lame.

In response to Evil.Murray's statement, the futuristic film is called Treasure Planet. It's based on Treasure Island with a space setting and will be an animated Disney feature. This live-action Pirates of the Carribean film is a different project entirely.

A monkey island movie would be brilliant. But it'd need to be perfect. It'd need a perfect Guybrush, a perfect score, and it'd simply HAVE to be written and directed by Gilbert. So it'd have the MI 'feel'
