LEC Legal Strikes Again

Ouch. The great ScummVM project has received a C&D letter from LucasArts Legal ordering them to close their site. For those who don't know, ScummVM lets you play old LEC games, like the Monkey Island games, under various OSs and platforms. From reading this, though, it looks like Ender & co. are ready to fight back. There could be some interesting times ahead.

the ole legal thing again... arrr... it seems to me that if LEC really were grateful that fans still played their older adventures, then they'd release patches or programs that would allow us to...

Yeah, they can fight back!
Becuase it supports Simon1 as well.

They don't care about the fans that have played LEC games right from the start... they know, realistically, that we're going to buy MI 5, or FT2, whatever happens. Just look at EMI. It was a good game, but because it was aimed towards the "Playstation" audience, it was too easy. It could've been A LOT better. But we still bought it, and all the hardcore fans will buy future MI games, too, right.... and we'll probably be stupid enough to buy the re-released classics too?
