Monkeys owns

PC Gamer has, yet again, published another silly chart ranking the best adventure games, like, ever! The list reads:

1) Escape from Monkey Island
2) Monkey Island 1-3
3) Grim Fandango
4) Sam & Max
5) Day of the Tentacle

Agree? Disagree? Don't give a damn about PC Gamer? Nice to see the Monkey games owning all at least.

I think perhaps

1) Monkey Island 1-3
2) Grim Fandango
3) Escape From Monkey Island
4) Full Throttle
5) Sam & Max
6) Day of the Tentacle

would be more appropriate.

Seeing that they bundled the three first games together, I think they should have included EMI with the rest of them. I'd also like to see games like the Broken Sword series on that list.

Then again, I've never been a fan of PC Gamer, so...

i definitely don't think EMI she be first on its own. And i agree with RemiO that the Broken Sword games should be on there. I guess people only look to Lucasarts for adventure games. Which is slightly unfair because there are loads of non Lucasarts adventure games worth mentioning.
Im not just talking about lists like these now either, i just mean in general...
So there.

Andi, Grim definitely deserves its place there. it is an excellent game with beautiful graphics. But are you sure EMI deserves the number 3 spot on your list?

I think it's a okay list, except that CMI shouldn't have been there!

is these only LEC games? if it's not,i think the King's Quest VI from SIERRA is the best adventure ever!.

these are all games made in the past 10 years and from LEC. I don't know what your opinion on Sierra is but they should have at least 3 games on that list. At least one each from King's Quest, Space Quest and Leisure Suit Larry. Although older games from LEC are at least still playable and sierra games have some weird timing problem. Even though I don't consider MYST better than what I mentioned, it is one of the highest selling games of all time and I think deserves a place.

What about games like Discworld. Has anyone played that? That was a really fun adventure game way back in 1995-6.

Not to mention the classic Simon the Sorcerer games...

Discworld was horribly frustrating! Half of the puzzles didn't make sense!

And EMI was a good game, but not by any means great.

1) Monkey Island 2: Lechucks Revenge
2) Grim Fandango
3) The Secret of Monkey Island
4) Day of the Tentacle
5) Broken Sword: Shadows of the Templar

I think the Discworld games captured some of the essence from Terry Pratchett's books, but I admit that the first game had some flaws. "Missing Presumed" and "Noir" are good games though. I also think Simon 1 & 2 were good and funny games. Many LEC fans would probably call it a rip-off, but it's nevertheless a good "rip-off".

I really don't understand why PC gamer bundled the first three MI games together,EMI was a really nice game, but I liked the first three (like many other) better. Broken Sword shouldn't have been left out. Because I really really love adventure games I'll make my own top 10 if you guys don't mind (otherwise I'll do it anyway ;))

1- Curse of Monkey Island
2- Broken Sword 1
3- Monkey Island 2
4- Monkey Island 1
5- Grim Fandango
6- Day of the tentacle
7- Full throttle
8- Simon the sorcerer 2
9- Escape from Monkey Island
10- Sam & Max
