Scurvyliver, creator of the Fate of Monkey Island fan-game that was famously cancelled by LucasArts, has noted a Monkey Island/Pirates of the Caribbean comparison "for all the fanboys like myself out there". Make up your own mind on whether you think it's a genuine similarity or just another coincidence by viewing the observation here.
