Here's hoping

Lets not prematurely excited, but according to Adventua y Ca, we may have soon have cause to celebrate. A quote from their site:

"Bad Brain Entertainment just announced, that negotiations with LucasArts about a yet unknown title have come to an end. Speculations are, that this title is the much anticipated Sam & Max 2 which was set on hold by Lucas Arts last year. Bad Brain Entertainment will announce details about the title and the negotiations later today."

Personally, Im waiting until Ive got the damn thing in my grubby little hands before I whip out the champagne, but this news is refreshing ray of hope nevertheless. Lets hope this turns out to be more than just a well founded rumour!

Update: Yeah, it failed. I blame LucasArts for not selling the unfinished game (why? WHY!?)
"We tried everything to bring you the game you all wanted. But it seems all hope has gone. They broke of negotiations. But you truly have to believe that it wasn't our fault and it sure wasn't the money. We just don't know and they don't tell.

But we don't give up that easy. There is still a glimpse of hope and Steve Purcell is the one who is in charge now. We are talking ... and we are hopeing ... again.

Here is what you can do: tell Steve P. to give us Sam & Max and we, at bad brain promise you the best and boldest Sam & Max 3D Point&Click-Adventure ever. Support us and we will give you what you want!"

I don't know... all the typing errors in the message gave me pause. I'm wondering if, perhaps, it's better that BBE didn't take such a treasure as Sam & Max into their hands. I trust Purcell to do not only what is best for the fans, but for our two furry buddies as well.

Its obvious that someone will eventually get the rights to Sam and Max, but maybe LEC were right on this one. Maybe BBE aren't the right dudes for the gig. I mean, their hearts are in the right place, but would YOU trust them with your baby?

Steve will make it better. He'll find a good developer. Maybe they'd make it 2D so we could see more of Purcell's art (style) in the game.

That's true, I hadn't thought of it like that. Still, it would have been nice to have had the game released.

Wasn't Purcell heavily involved with FP, including in the area of art design?
