The Monkey Island SCUMM Bar: Site to return in 2014

That's right boys and girls, Jim Ward, supreme chancellor of LucasArts, has right out promised that there will be a Monkey Island 5 release in 2015! Read this Mojo story for more.

This, of course, means that we will re-open the site in 2014, just in time for the start of the news flurry! Look forward to:

I have come here for a long time but only as a silent guest.

This is awsome news! i just hope that Lucas Arts keep there end up. i bet they think by 2015 there wont be any market for the monkey island adventures so they scrap it or somthin.

Hi there. I'm new to this site - and will start by saying it rocks! When I found all the MI-music my day was saved :-)

Someone should really build an Monkey Island themepark. In fullsize, with all islands, buildings, people, and ships from all the games. Somewhere in the world. I'll be there!

If they take THAT long it had better be spectacular and not as crap as Monkey Island 4 was.

Perhaps this isn't the place to say this or maybe it is, I don't know, but this game is without doubt my all time favourite game of all time. I remember playing this game as a kid, myself and my best mate on his PC, until I basically had no option but to go home for fear I die of hunger or sleep deprivation. I had an Amiga myself needing 11 floppy disks to play MI2, but swapping a new disk every 3 seconds never discouraged me from this addictive game. It almost brings tears to my eyes when I see pics of MI1 and MI2 now, thinkin back at the number of hours I spent playing it, trying to figure out how to escape from jail using a bone found under a matress and win a spitting contest with phlegm thickened by some kind of strangely coloured alcoholic beverage. I really hope this game has a sequel cause it deserves it. Games today in my opinion have lost something, putting graphics ahead of gameplay is always a mistake. Few games have ever managed to match the utter joy of playing Monkey Island (ICO is perhaps one exception), and I doubt many will ever come close again given the ongoing commercialisation of the gaming sector. My ultimate wish would be that every kid has the chance to play this game and discover what joy can be had without 300 million pixels per square inch.

He didn't exactly say they were going to bring it back...he said "we could do that, but..." I want MI5 as much as (or possibly more than?) the next guy, but that sounded to me like spokesperson jargon, saying rather than bring back a true classic, they want to create new things, which is fine, but I want Guybrush! I hope it will happen, but I don't want to get my hopes up either.

I think making a new, great adventure like MI1 and MI2 (aint really that fond of CMI n EMI), is a really big mistake.

They should keep making new Starwars games all the time instead (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!)

8 years is a long time , but , if it's worth to wait that long ... and I'm 20 years old by the time of that , and I quess I would be busy in other stuff...actualy I hope not :)

For the new game we can hear the mp3s also? excellent. MI music is wonderful.

I know this has probably been asked before, but I've been downloading some of the mp3s from this site and some arent working...

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I don't think that monkey will be released in 2014,because this is a very big business for lucasarts,and i don't think that the lucasarts has leaved all the project of a new monkey island since 2000;so i think that a new monkey island probably will be relese in 2009!of course, i hope that....

I love curse of monkey island 3. Number 4, I didn't play but it doesn't look great. I like 2-D animation better, nowadays everything is super 3-D and absolutely NO story. Curse of monkey island is awesome and always will be. I want them to make number 5 (IF THEY EVEN MAKE IT, UNLIKE THE FAKE ONE WHICH WAS A JOKE!) in 2-D. One more thing, they really shouldn't re-make day of the tenticle. i haven't played it, I only know about it because of my older brother who said it was great!
